Monitor/Defibrillator. A recent study has shown that one-year mortality rates for acute myocardial infarction increase when treatment by a primary angioplasty is delayed. As a result, hospitals around the world strive to meet the recommended 90-minute "Door-to-Balloon" target set by the American College of Cardiology, the American Heart Association and other cardiology organisations worldwide. It aims to reduce the time from the arrival of the patient at the hospital to angioplasty to 90 minutes or less. The HeartStart MRx monitor/defibrillator is used to help meet this goal by transmitting patient ECG data directly from the ambulance to the hospital's emergency room. Upon reception of the information at the hospital, clinicians can use the ECG findings to begin assessing the treatment the incoming patient will require, thus allowing the hospital to begin organising its resources before the patient's arrival. In addition to transmitting ECG data, the monitor/defibrillator integrates with the company's TraceMasterVue ECG management system enabling critical patient information to be seen wherever it is needed, including in the catheterisation lab.
