High-definition medical recorder

PDW-70MD

The PDW-70MD is a new "professional" disc-based high-definition (HD) medical recording device that enables surgeons to acquire, display and archive very high-quality video images filmed during operations. The medical recorder enables the capture of surgical interventions in full 1080 HD. This represents the highest quality image and is far superior to the 525-625 lines offered by standard-definition devices. Using the complementary software, the system permits users to record important patient and procedural information alongside the video images. The richness of stored content allows hospitals and surgeons to review the HD operation footage accompanied by relevant patient information. As well as proving a valuable device for doctors, the recorder can address the challenge of surgical training. With its support for HD images, it offers large audiences the opportunity to view the intricacies of surgical operations as if they were happening live. Using industry-standard MPEG-2 video compression, the recorder can store up to two hours of HD video on a single Professional Disc. Similar to the conventional consumer Blu-ray format, it has been adapted for professional use and delivers faster read/write speed.
