Dose-reducing drape to protect X-ray staff

Dose-reducing drape to protect X-ray staff. Radiation overexposure from the use of X-ray fluoroscopy during diagnostic and interventional procedures is an occupational hazard of worldwide dimensions for healthcare staff. Much of the radiation used in fluoroscopy is scattered as it passes through the patient's body. Traditional lead acrylic barriers, lead equivalent material shields, glasses and aprons offer some protection, but often this protection is not enough, especially when the clinician must work very close to the patient.  X-drape is a sterilised, disposable surgical drape that can be placed within the sterile field over the patient's body to absorb the radiation scattered from the patient.  Made from proprietary non-leaded composite radiation- absorbing material, the drape works within the sterile field to reduce the dose from scatter radiation by up to 98%.
