Ultrasound Platform for Obs and Gynae
Ultrasound Platform for Obs and Gynae. The Voluson E8 includes a number of new tools to help improve clinical workflow, including Volume Computer Aided Diagnosis (VCAD), a new automated imaging tool that allows clinicians to create easier and faster fetal heart exams. This proprietary technology makes volume imaging of the fetal heart less complicated by automatically generating multi-dimensional images of the right and left outflow tracts, once a standardised four-chamber view has been obtained.

"VCAD introduces standardisation into ultrasound imaging and helps to reduce the risk of operator exam misinterpretation. By simplifying the technical aspects associated with a fetal ultrasound exam, the detection of fetal heart abnormalities should also be enhanced," said Dr Alfred Abuhamad, professor and chair of the department of OB/GYN at Eastern Virginia Medical Centre in Norfolk, USA. Other new tools available on the ultrasound system include a 4D transvaginal probe that enables clinicians detect fetal abnormalities earlier, while also ignificantly improving diagnostic confidence in complex gynaecological exams. Another new tool is the matrix array volume probe that improves image clarity for volume imaging, also providing better visualisation for 2D and multiplanar imaging. In addition, TruScan, a new clipboard feature, simplifies postprocessing and archiving by enabling quick access to saved images from a previous study. The height of the control panel is electrically adjustable, and the high-resolution display is independent of the main console, moving on an articulating arm that glides in place. Data sent directly from the Voluson E8 to the ViewPoint inter-office information system help generate comprehensive structured reports, access robust databases to document findings and archive images, volumes and reports. With the addition of 4D View software, data are optimised, manipulated and analysed offline. Full DICOM connectivity enables interfacing with PACS or other image management systems. Additional options for image archiving, patient scheduling and reporting are also available.
