Advanced NIRS - based regional oximetry system
Oximetry system
Oximetry system
Designed for instantaneous signal acquisition, improved accuracy and consistency during cerebral monitoring, the recently introduced Model 7600 Regional Oximetry System from Nonin Medical offers real-time management of cerebral oxygenation for patients at risk of ischaemia. The new system incorporates the company’s EQUANOX near-infrared spectroscopy (NIRS) regional oximetry technology to measure the balance of oxygenated and deoxygenated haemoglobin (HbO2 and Hb) in the cerebral cortex. An innovative sensor design effectively removes surface tissue effects that can influence measurement accuracy — while three-wavelength technology reduces the sensitivity to patient physiological differences. These advances improve accuracy, repeatability and efficiency by eliminating possible measurement variations resulting from repositioning or replacing the sensor. The accuracy of the EQUANOX technology has been proven to be superior to conventional NIRS cerebral oximetry in validation testing carried out at at Duke University, Chapel Hill, NC, USA.
