Blood glucose meter. The introduction of StatStrip Xpress, a new cost-effective blood glucose meter, gives hospitals a choice of glucose monitors, with or without a connectivity solution, using the same proprietary Multi-Well test strip. This is  a new strip technology that uses four measuring wells. As is the case with the StatStrip glucose hospital meter, this newly designed blood glucose meter enables bedside glucose testing at a level of analytical performance that approaches the quality of central laboratory testing. The combination of a very short analysis time (six seconds), small (1.2-microliter) sample size and simple operating steps make for fast and easy glucose testing at the point of care. The system measures and corrects for haematocrit interference, as well as interferences from acetaminophen (Tylenol), uric acid and ascorbic acid (Vitamin C). It also eliminates oxygen, maltose, galactose and xylose interferences. As no calibration codes are needed, this potential source of error is eliminated and the number of steps required for testing is reduced.
