Glucose meter and strip gives lab-like accuracy

Glucose meter

Glucose meter
A compilation of 23 studies published in just the last 18 months validates the lab-like accuracy and interference-free results of Nova Biomedical’s StatStrip glucose technology. The studies were carried out by leading hospitals in countries throughout the world, including the United States, Canada and European as well as Asia countries. The StatStrip system was compared for precision, interferences, and accuracy with reference chemistry analysers used in the central laboratory as well as other current technology glucose meters. The studies were conducted in a broad variety of critical care settings including ICU, Dialysis, NICU, OR, ED and tertiary care units. The results validate the lab-like accuracy of the StatStrip system and its freedom from interference in bedside glucose testing. StatStrip consistently outperformed existing glucose meter technology in terms of correlation to laboratory reference methods and elimination of common interferences. One study concluded that “the very low biases and the very low rate of significant discrepancy appear sufficient for safe tight glucose monitoring in the adult ICU.” The remarkable pace at which the new StatStrip technology has been evaluated and the results published by so many leading institutions (less than 18 months from its introduction) is testimony to the importance of this technology breakthrough for bedside glucose testing. The StatStrip glucose monitoring system uses a novel glucose test strip technology that measures blood haematocrit level and other common interferences and eliminates their effect from the glucose result. No other glucose monitor, even those incorporating the most up-to-date technology, corrects for such interference, which can give rise to erroneous glucose results, inappropriate insulin dosing and undetected or iatrogenic hypoglycaemia. Free copies of the independent studies can be obtained from Nova.
