High resolution PET/CT
Siemens has introduced an imaging device that combines the functions of its most advanced computed tomograph (CT) with a high-resolution PET (positron emission tomography) system. The new Biograph mCT thus combines all the capabilities of molecular imaging and radiology in a single piece of equipment. It is the only system that offers PET images with a resolution of two millimetres and image contrast four times better than conventional PET imaging. Now it’s possible to conduct a PET examination in only five minutes. The CT’s X-ray source rotates around the patient three times a second, and its 128-slice imaging technology makes possible a resolution of 0.33 millimetres.
